WITH

Leon Young

Internally driven, and emotionally charged, Leon’s artwork and sculptures have been described as “New and uplifting simultaneously”. Leon works in a wide variety of mediums and materials. When viewing Leon’s portfolio for the first time one is under the belief that the works presented are the master creations of several talented artists. The diverse collections however are the efforts of just one. Explosive abstract art paintings, contemporary mixed media art, recycled art, spiritual paintings and his intricate and obsessive textured plaster medium are just some of the styles you will uncover when you drive into Leon’s portfolio of works.

Leon Young is a self-taught, abstract painter from the South Carolina. While Leon has been creating art in various forms throughout his life it was not until 2010, after having moved to Miami and starting a new life, that he started creating his art on a full-time basis.

In a fairly short period of time, Leon accomplished top achievements for a self-taught & self-representing artist. Selling his original abstract art & mixed media paintings via methods that most in the art world deemed unconventional, Leon earned the attention of astute, contemporary art collectors around the world. By the end of 2013 Leon sold over 500 original paintings to art collectors throughout the U.S., Canada, Brazil.

Leon’s original abstract art paintings and mixed media assemblages have been exhibited in Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, South Carolina, California, and Las Vegas.

The creative process for Leon is one that is both automatic and emotional. The majority of Leon’s artworks are inspired by the music he listens to. The beat, the lyrics, the emotions he feel from the music I am listening to while I am creating. For me, creating his art is like being lost in time; ups and downs, highs and lows, twists and turns. Painting for Leon, like life, is constant movement, constant change. The creation process is cathartic, allowing his emotions to spill out onto his canvas as a release.
